General Warren was on the Union side of the American Civil War and is best remembered, and here immortalized, as the man who defended the infamous Little Round Top location from the Confederate army under the pressure of a last minute decision. He recognized that the higher ground and the gap in the Union line needed to be defended just minutes before the Confederates struck this location. In part due to the elevation, the General was able to refute the attack and keep the location on the second day of the battle at Gettysburg, PA. It's not a surprise that he carries binoculars in this famous statue of him atop Little Round Top...though it does kind of look like a canteen of some kind from this angle. Whoops. 2010-2013.
