Despite being one of the most common weeds EVER, the dandelion is pretty darn cool. It's a cheery color, apparently tastes great, and makes a wonderful dye. I never realized how detailed it was until I broke out the macro setting and went to town one cloudy, spring afternoon a few years back. Then, upon editing, I noticed a little buggie on one of the bottom leaves checking me out. Made me think about the world as a whole and how, being the "tall" creatures we are, that we miss so much! The small things are important, too. Down to the most random, itty bitty bug living in its weedy home. 2010-2013.
Ever since childhood the dandelion has been my favourite flower. To me, it is not, never has, and never will be a weed. And I still consider Pluto a planet.
I met a guy who owned a winery in central PA. He regularly made dandelion wine, but the state wouldn't let him sell it as part of his business. I guess dandelions are too vulnerable to dogs and other animals that might not respect their food value.
I'm afraid not. He did have free tasting, but could not legally offer me the dandelion. He does make wines out of interesting fruits and vegetables, though. Here's his very creative wine list: [link]
