Canopus Lake in upstate New York was absolutely FREEZING that night, but I was shooting stars so all of that seemed to melt away. It's a nice location, very pleasant and quiet. A cop stopped me along the way considering he saw my car parked. He shined his light into the car and then over at me, but quickly turned it off. He was curious as to what I was shooting at such an hour at night and he was just as amazed as I was as all the stars peeked out their heads on my Nikon's screen. :) 2011-2013.

I think it's the coldest nights that are the clearest. I agree with you and the cop -- this is great for having no clock drive!

Yeah, they are definitely crisp and clear. Less precipitation in the air on those really cold nights than in the summer. :)
