After a major flood hit the area rather recently, this small town on the banks of the Susquehanna river in Pennsylvania was almost completely abandoned. A few families stuck around, but most of the homes were condemned and abandoned. This is one of the more permanent residents, a fluffy cat who loves his bike, and guards his house. 2011-2013.
It's sad that animals sometimes get left behind when these things happen, but looking at this guy he seems pretty healthy. I like the way he seems to be guarding both the bike and the house. Nice photo.
Yeah, he's good. The thing about cat is that they can easily revert back to being feral. I don't like that they sometimes have to, but they can easily survive if they are outside the house. This was in the middle of Pennsylvania. Lots of good running water and field mice and birds. P:
Sounds like he is in a ideal spot. One of my cats returned to being feral for no reason, he now happily lives in the fields about five minutes from my house chasing birds and mice. Luckily we had him neutered before he decided he didn't like living in a house anymore.
Most people returned for their pets or got evacuated with them. This cat was either feral or turning. That's the glory of cats, they can go back to their roots rather easily. Thanks, love!
