Barracuda

When I visited Belize in 2013, I scuba dived extensively.  This barracuda came up to the group during our safety stop, a usually 3-5 minute wait time about 15 feet from the surface in order for our bodies to acclimate to the pressure change.  The barracuda curiously swam around us and examined anything shiny, they like shiny things, and swam super close.  When you recognize that my GoPro doesn't have a zoom you'll know how close this dude was.  I clutched the monopod the GoPro was clipped to just in case he decided the shiny buttons on the camera was going with him.  With speeds that can burst up to 30 miles per hour without effort, I wanted a tight grip on my equipment.  This is also a good reason to remove shiny objects like necklaces, earrings, and rings before entering the water.  Most barracuda bites are because of these objects.  © 2013-Current.
